Houston
Not-so-quick brunch at The Egg and I. Decent food, but nothing too special.
Some crazy experiences with frontage roads in Texas (including one that looks like a freeway ramp, but is still a frontage road?), then off to the Houston Rodeo!
The Rodeo is kind of like a county fair, but with lots more horse riding and whatnot involved. They didn't have just one arena, but at least three! We sat down at one of the smaller ones, and it was kinda nifty as they deftly threaded horses around barrels for time. Definitely not something seen in California! And in the same building was the rabbit exhibition! Awesome! So. Many. Bunnies! Californians, English Lops, French Lops, Flemish Giants, Mini-rexes of all kinds, Polish, etc. etc.
Plenty of other livestock too, including chickens, longhorns, turkeys, etc. And of course, plenty of Texas BBQ. Ranch House had delicious smoked pork ribs, sausage, and brisket. Nom nom nom!
Dessert hours later was at Marble Slab Creamery, kinda like Coldstone. Quick note- don't get two smalls, get a medium or a large and share, as it's a much better value. mmmmmmm ice cream!
