San Diego Zoo

Presenting Xiao Liwu, the newest baby panda cub at the San Diego Zoo!

There was some other stuff at the zoo too (giraffes, rhino, hippo, polar bears, koalas, etc.) but honestly, much of the group was really just there to see the giant pandas. We made two trips through each panda enclosure (pandas and the separate baby panda enclosure) in the morning before the lines got crazy, saw a show with Campfire Dave and the animals at "camp", had an overpriced lunch, then more animals! Polar bears, arctic birds, hippos, eagles, bonobos and their poop (eww!), rhinos, all kinds of nifty animals.

Finished off the day with kangaroos, zebras, elephants, and koalas. Somehow we missed wombats and a few others-- part of the zoo is under construction, maybe that was why?-- but it was closing time already!

Dinner afterwards at Taste of the Himalayas, a decent-if-it-didn't-take-two-bloody-hours to serve us meal. Had to skip out on Extraordinary Desserts as a result. Then we had to hightail it back to Los Angeles in the party van. *grins*
