Running and food
5:45am wake-up for the Holiday Half marathon in Pomona. Ugh. Too early! And having kind of forgotten to check the course map... holy crap, there's hills!
Of course, after sitting through traffic, the slightly chilly weather, and actually making the race start, the plan to take it easy all went out the window anyway. Attempt at a PR (by this year's standards) still failed, but a 1:42:51 was only 13 seconds off the fastest half this year, so that wasn't too bad.
Dim sum afterwards at Empress Harbour. They had tripe! Quality otherwise was just okay to good; they used to be awesome here years ago. As it is, it's still not bad, just not amazing. Shu mai were highly delicious.
Finally, late stop at TLT Food in Westwood. The Lime Truck is now a restaurant, and they're certainly not bad. The catch of the day nachos could've used more ahi, the ultimate taco was so-so compared to the pork belly taco, and the corn was delicious. Drinks (flavored lemonades) were solid too. The space they occupy (formerly The Stand, right next to Noodle World) has been restyled in modern language and it seems to work quite well.
Not quite delicious enough to go high on any of the priority lists, but definitely not too bad. A solid start, unlike a lot of other places that have popped up recently!
