New Order
Post-Long Beach Half Marathon. Lost Jarett and Vince but eventually found 'em. Ran a 1:42:36 or so (if they ever fix my gun time), Mike beat me by about a minute or 90 seconds, and Travis crushed all of us with a 1:28. DAMN! Nice job all!
Grand World Buffet in Torrance afterwards to feed starving bellies. Joe made it out to cheer too, and we then filled up on cheap Chinese, Japanese, and Korean food. Very cheap... but hey, we were starving, and far more interested in maximum quantity than anything else!
Dinner at Mr. Pizza's new Japantown location afterwards with Kristina. It tastes identical to the Koreatown location, but in a smaller, much more cozy feeling location. No crowds yet either, a major plus. Off to New Order at The Greek afterwards, for New Order's first tour in what, 5 years? (did they run out of drug money or something? ;-) ) For whatever reason they chose to get back together and start touring, who knows. Even with their trademark short setlists (only 15 songs!), they still have it. Bernard Summer jumping around on stage like crazy, opening their classic guitar riffs (and the whole show!) with a long, elaborate introduction to Crystal (although they didn't play Regret... very sad!), and oldies like 586 and Love Will Tear Us Apart... good times!
And it was nice to be with a crowd who knew all the old stuff. Seeing the entire Greek Theater on their feet to almost every song, with True Faith and others getting the biggest resposne all night. Simply amazing. And yet, still very classic New Order. Down to one loud *ss guy in the crowd yelling "NEW OR-DER!" every few songs. *grins*
