Michael and Susie
The wedding of Michael and Susie at the Hilton San Gabriel. A surprisingly beautiful rooftop venue smack in the middle of San Gabriel, complete with baskets full of doves as a surprise.
Downstairs for cocktail hour (and photo booth!) before the reception, which was the standard nine course Chinese banquet. t'was a bit awkward at first since we didn't know anyone else, but I think we lucked out and got seated at a table with a few people with senses of humor similar to ours... *grins*
The wedding intro video was a little unusual. Lots of detail about how Susie met Michael and how their courting process went. Lots of time spent at the wishing well at Disneyland!
It wasn't just Susie's love of Disney... it was Hello Kitty too. Much of the music was Disney and much of the wedding was Hello Kitty themed, including the massive Hello Kitty bouquet. I think Alicia got a good laugh at all the Disney songs used, and presumably Michael's white tux was similarly inspired.
Then two courses of the meal, then the first dance. More food, then the father-daughter and mother-son dances-- we had no idea Michael (or his mom) could ballroom dance! One more course (lobster, nom nom) and all of a sudden we were into the cake cutting! Watching the bride and groom feed each other was cute, then Susie went a little crazy and tried to feed Mike two or three more pieces of cake... by the last one Michael was trying to dodge. We had no idea he could lean over that far!
More food-- but still not yet done with the meal-- and we were into the garter and bouquet tosses. The emcee made Michael do a "sexy dance" to get Susie in the mood, Michael's first throw was well short of all the guys, and the girls all went wild for bouquet!
More food, dessert, wedding cake, the costume change for the bride and groom, and of course, a few wedding games. Turns out one of the girls at our table, Tiffany, had baked everything-- and it was tasty! Dan tried to go back for seconds later and there was nothing left!
Again to our surprise, we were called up for the "friendship circle dance" and then a big group hug to end the night. And suddenly... it was done! Congratulations, Michael and Susie!
