Hawaii 2012
Exploring Oahu's north shore, all the way from Kahuku to Haleiwa.
Pupukea Beach park was underwhelming. Saw quite a few fish, but it was a rocky little cove that wasn't what we expected. Neither was the Haleiwa Farmers Market-- which at least had good poke-- but not nearly as much farmed good as we expected! Had we thought about it, though, we would've realized that an island like Oahu really doesn't support that much farming...
Kahuku Land Farms right outside the resort was actually the best little roadside stand we'd seen! *grins*
Lunch and dinner were both from Ted's Bakery. Their plate lunches are classic Hawaiian, heavy on carbs and meat! Not amazing, but pretty good plate lunches. BBQ shortribs and BBQ chicken were tasty but nothing special, neither was the fried chicken. However, their pies are excellent; we could eat those all day!. Their crowd seems to be surfers, who probably want the carbs and meat en masse. *grins* Dinner also ended up being from Ted's, as we found out that past 6pm on a Sunday, just about everything on the north shore was closed!
