Hawaii 2012
Getting up far too early as usual, for a far too cramped flight on an old United 767-300 with only modestly-crappy video screens, into Honolulu's not-so-modern airport...
But who cares, right? You're now in Hawaii!
Off to the north shore in the awful Dodge Caliber rental with mom and dad, with a lovely stop at the Famous Kahuku Shrimp Truck for my first dose of garlic shrimp and all the goodies! The shrimp themselves were actually pretty good, but the garlic was a bit overdone. Coconut shrimp were good but not our thing, the mahi mahi was light for something fried, and the rice was kinda hard.
Still tasty though, although the most absurd part was that Cousin Kristen's rehearsal dinner was just a few short hours later at the Plantation Estate. Just how much more food did we need? Especially with a large dose of family as well as Kristen and Dave's friends? Lenoard's malasadas were also present-- nom nom! The Plantation Estate was also fairly nice for the north shore, and it fit everyone comfortably in the main house and the lawn, which was important since it was the first time most of us were meeting Dave's family!
