Hole in the Wall Burger
After a recent feature on another 10-best-burgers-in-LA list, it was decided that Hole in the Wall Burger was worth another visit, especially since we disagreed.
They've gotten less hole-in-the-wall in the year or two it's been since the last visit, but the homemade ketchup and the menu remain largely the same. The homemade ketchup isn't very sweet and may be excellent, but for someone raised on store-bought-crap it's hard to say if it's better...
The burgers seem to be better if you skip the pretzel bun (it's too distracting from the rest of the burger) as the experience was better this time, but the applewood smoked bacon was almost flavorless-- or it was overwhelmed by meat, possibly both. The meat itself was pretty decent, but not particularly spectacular. The highlight of the meal was probably the fries, which were very good garlic fries.
Amazing? No. 10-best? Hell no. But solid? Yes, definitely.
