Ocean Star, Sept 06
Dim sum and burgers
It'd been a long time since we'd gone to Ocean Star, so it was time to visit again. Food was okay. Lobster noodle was disappointing, but then, it was only $12...
It'd been a while precisely because were underwhelmed by the food (MSG burn, ick), but it was cheap and hey, it was all about the company!
Obligatory stop by Half n Half afterwards (yum!) before heading over to Kee Wah Bakery.
Wrapped up the day with different friends at Golden State Cafe, which is considered one of the top burgers in Los Angeles. The fries were solid, the salad was even better, and the potato salad was amazing, in the heavier American way. The burgers were excellent as expected, but the conclusion among the three of us was that the burgers failed to live up to the hype. Excellent? Yes. Worth driving this kind of distance for? Not really, not when we have equally yummy burgers at Fathers' Office much closer.
Of course, this was a Sunday night. We may have to come back on a Thursday afternoon to try the lamb burger, which is supposedly on a whole 'nother level of delicious.
