Phamish and Barney's Beanery
The banh mi at Phamish are pretty so-so, but they make up for it with pho (also so-so), summer rolls (the Bo La Lot are hard to find outside of OC, so I get them when I can!), and bun (also so-so). Given the choice is no Vietnamese food vs. so-so Vietnamese food of several varieties, well, Phamish is more than acceptable.
If you get the pho, though, make sure to eat it right away. It's pretty expensive and not very good, but it's still best enjoyed fresh and hot when they do make it. (often it's not available!)
Andi B. came into town, so we hit Barney's Beanery-- one of his favorite places-- and enjoyed conversation, good beer, and talk about life, cars, and whatnot for a few hours. Coffee Bean was also introduced to him, but sadly, Diddy Riese was closed for remodeling (!).
