Mammoth: Presidents' Day 2011: Day 1
After a frantic week leading up to the big annual Presidents' Day Weekend trip to Mammoth, Sophia and I finally got everything together and we made our way up to Mammoth.
Packed into Lan Lan and Mike's (well, Mike's) WRX like sardines covered in potato chips, we made it up to Mammoth and got in a half day full of fresh powder and total whiteouts at the top. Skiing through moguls blind and through TONS of fresh powder was awesome, yet also reminded me just how much more work my skiing needs! Well, that and the ability to see in a whiteout. Blargh.
Several other groups made it up (I think everyone but us avoided donating to the CHP retirement fund... doh) too, and stuffed full of Schat's yummy bread (and sandwiches) for lunch, we were still ready to eat by that evening! That night we had dinner a la Sophia and Justin-- lasanga and salad. Mmmmm.
We were crazy enough to pack in two cabins this year, and for the first time, the unit next to our usual cabin was available for rent, so we got 'em both. It's not as nice as the usual one, but it has a bigger TV, so hey, it's probably a wash!
