Miki's Visit

Miki 'n Matt visit... which of course means that Kim comes up to play, along with Bao and some other friends.

Dim sum at Monterey Palace starts off the day. So-so dim sum, but wow, the price is definitely right! Dirt cheap-- $10/head with 21 dishes including tip. Joycelyn, Dan, Kim, Miki, Matt, and myself were all very surprised how cheap it was, considering the massive amount of food we had.

Got busy in the middle of the day, but met up with Kim, Bao, Miki, and Matt down at Santa Monica Place/Third Street Promenade that evening, which had just finished a massive remodel, then had another so-so dinner of Persian food at Javan. We'd never been there and it seemed like it was worth a try, so no regrets! Food was exquisitely cooked, interior was modern yet lovely, just the seasoning of the food was horribly bland.

Clubbing at J Lounge finished off the night. We tried to get into Crown, but the line wasn't moving and a party bus had just arrived while we were waiting in line... which meant we improvised J Lounge as plan B. J Lounge had added a screen roof over the outdoor area, which made it less attractive (kept the smoke in, eww), but the rest was still the same-- Go-Go dancers and a long bar inside, plus the usual areas outside and downstairs... not too bad.

Quite a busy weekend, hope Miki and Matt made it to Magic Mountain the next day!
