Canter's Truck, Britt's BBQ, The Stand
In search of breakfast, the Canter's Truck provided an unexpected break from fast food or cafeteria crap with their sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich. It wasn't much to get excited about, but it had real breakfast sausage and egg and swiss in it, and it wasn't half bad.
Dinner at Britt's BBQ in El Segundo followed. We'd probably drive by this place a zillion times and never gotten around to going. Turns out it was pretty good-- tri-tip salad was yummy, and the Carolina-style BBQ sauce on the baby back ribs (which were properly smoked and required just the right amount of force to peel off the bone) were excellent. Potato salad and cole slaw were both well done, but for some reason they didn't resonate well with my tastebuds.
Finally, I realized I had a Groupon to The Stand I had to use, so I stopped by for their bratwurst, their polish sausage, and a root beer float (almost exactly used up the value of the Groupon, sweet!). Both sausages were just okay-- much better than the worst crap I've had, but not too far above average, while the root beer float used nice vanilla ice cream but oddly, did not come with a spoon...
