Bethany's Birthday at Manna
Finally made it over to Manna Korean BBQ at the (no longer) new Westfield Fox Hills Culver City shopping mall. The mall itself is still nice and shiny new, although it looks nicer than it is-- clearly with a Best Buy and a Target inside, you're not aiming at a high-end crowd.
That's okay though as it works out nicely enough. The same can't be said for the Korean BBQ, though. It's a decidedly odd place; more than just watered down (no beef tongue? WTF?), the decor with high ceilings, white walls, and granite tables is decidedly non-kkbq, while the decor lacks any sort of character, which really makes it feel weird.
The kicker? They have some huge ducting or something under the tables. Maybe so you don't smell like smoke and food? Which would be good, except on the long tables for gruops, the ducting is so big it physically blocks a seat in the middle of the table! LAME.
We made it work, though. Switched tables up, reveled in the fact we could get microbrews (also weird!), and enjoyed Bethany's birthday. Especially with the photo booth imported straight from Japan right outside!
And the hurricane booth in the middle of the mall... =P
