Virgil's Birthday
SSC semi-crashed the UCLA Economics department holiday lunch at Yamato. We ordered our own food from our (well Barnaby's) customary spot on the upper level, then waved to them as they came in later. On our way out we stopped to take pictures. *grins*
They recognized Mike and Jarett, of course. I think they knew Albert as well. Barnaby and I weren't as well known to the rest of 'em. Well Professor McDevitt did, but that's 'cause he hangs out with Tim, Jerry, and by extension some of us SSC geeks.
Oh yes, make sure to skip the fried mackerel on the lunch combo list. The rest of the food actually isn't half bad for a Korean-run Japanese place. :-p
Virgil's birthday at Cha Cha Cha (Carribbean and South American food) and Rosen Music Studio filled the rest of the evening. Brian and Myrla, Ryan and Cheryl, Charlin, Jill, June, Tiffany, myself, and of course, Virgil. Food was generally pretty good and the sangria was excellent, not to mention June's... uh... was it a gag gift? The cake Tiffany brought was delicious too, and unlike other parties, people actually got to eat it, instead of it ending up on the floor...
Karaoke afterwards-- lost a few people, gained a few, dealt with rain and parking nightmares as usual in K-town, plus a limited selection of English songs... but ended up with a huge room with three large TV's, plus Wii-style animated characters dancing to the songs instead of bad music videos. Total random and the end experience was actually pretty cool.
Throw in playing with hair extensions and a couple of pretty rockin' duets (Journey - Faithfully, The Killers - Mr. Brightside, among others) and I think you can call it a successful night!
