Vegas to Kansas Roadtrip 2010
We got up absurdly early to make sure we got to Kansas City before lunch.
Had an artery-clogging breakfast at Braum's (mostly 'cause we were in a hurry), then saw just how flat and boring it is in most of Oklahoma and Kansas. There are a few parts of trees and rivers and rolling hills, but most in early November is flat flat flat flat, without even a wheat crop for adornment...
Pulled into Kansas City, then into Justin's house to unload, collect his dog, Dakota, and say hi to his family. Not a bad little neighborhood, but Justin's rusty Chevy S-10 pickup, let's just say it didn't stand out at all. *grins*.
Arthur Bryant's BBQ was awesome. I don't really care for burnt ends, but I had to try them as they're the KC special-- and man, the sauce is good! We then wandered to the World War I memorial, which is huge and needed more time to explore it than we could afford to devote to it (sigh) and then outside the big shopping mall with no internal supporting columns in KC (I forget the name)... by then we were pretty tired, so back to Justin's neighborhood for ice cream (Sheridan's was nuts, so we had Blue Belle) with the rest of his family.
