Hawaii 2010
Sophia's older brother, Ray, finally got married to his long-time fiancee and partner in life, Molly. Naturally, they did so in one of the most pretty locations to get married: the Big Island of Hawai'i!
Since everyone evidently loves to go to Hawaii, enough family and friends came to make this a fairly sizeable affair for a destination wedding: 47 people came!
Alicia had never been to Oahu or the Big Island, and the story was the same for much of Sophia's family, so Sophia took charge and organized activities on the Big Island for everyone. Ziplining, a night scuba dive with manta rays, a full tour of the Big Island, plus a luau and Ray and Molly's wedding. We then tacked on a few more days in Oahu, to see Hanauma Bay, Pearl Harbor, and the rest of the local sights.
t'was a fun trip, but an amazingly packed one. I think most days we were busy from 8am to 10pm or something absurdly close to that.
And last but not least, congratulations to Ray and Molly!
Day 1 - Los Angeles to Kailua Kona on the Big Island, by way of LAX-HNL-KOA.
Day 2 - Zipline on the north coast of the Big Island, then the manta ray night dive.
Day 3 - Big Island tour: Kaumana Cave, Rainbow Falls, Volcanoes National Park, black sand beach, waves at MacKenzie park, and a lava boat cruise.
Day 4 - Exploring the beaches around Kailua Kona and the pre-wedding luau.
Day 5 - Akaka Falls, downtown Hilo, and Ray and Molly's wedding.
Day 6 - Ray and Molly's tea ceremony, then back to Oahu to explore Waikiki.
Day 7 - Exploring Oahu: Hanauma Bay, Halona Blowhole, Nuuanu Pali lookout, and Diamond Head.
Day 8 - Pearl Harbor and then back to Los Angeles.
