Fogo de Chao and Flying Pig
A late stop at the Flying Pig Truck for lunch with Sophia. The sliders and the duck buns were about all that was left... duck bun (aka order a duck taco, but ask for a bun instead) was pretty decent as usual. The sliders were delicous, but not $5.50 delicious. For that much money I could go to In-n-Out and get 4x the food-- and the sliders are NOT four times as good!
We got together with some people from UCLA Andersen to finish off dineLA Restaurant Week at Fogo de Chao in Beverly Hills. I've had a lot of Brazillian BBQ but never one those good... the filet mignon, very good. The house special was even better. The top sirlion was also worth mentioning, as were the usual cheese rolls. I don't know what makes good cheese rolls so good, but mmmmm! Making sure we didn't explode was tough, and finding tasty smoked salmon at the salad bar only further complicated the job during our two hour plus meal.
A top-shelf caipirinha was the special drink of the week for dineLA. Super smooth. Dessert was less impressive, although the key lime pie wasn't bad.
The crowd was also crazy. Maybe it was a bit different due to dineLA, but 6pm was almost empty, by 7pm it was pretty busy, by 8pm it was packed, and by the time we left past 9pm... holy cow the line outside was insane. I guess the young Beverly Hills needs somewhere to hang out and other Brazillian BBQ places like Greenfield just aren't classy or centrally located enough?
It was a tasty, tasty meal.
