The night before at Korean BBQ, Will had mentioned visiting the Koji "Roja" truck the next day for lunch. When I got up in the morning and realized I had a few hours to kill... well, that sounded like a good idea!
For the FIFA World Cup 2010, Chef Roy of Kogi fame had the Roja truck converted into the "ESPN World Cup Truck", complete with roof-suspended big screen TV for World Cup viewing and a special menu with items representing multiple nations. The USA had silver dollar pancakes, Mexico had huevos rancheros, Greece had a lamb gyro, South Africa had bunny chow (chicken curry on a bread roll)... and they were all pretty good! The pancakes and the huevos rancheros were unexpectedly AWESOME and the lamb gyro was much better than I expected it to be. There were also seared rice balls (Italy), yaki mandoo dumplings (South Korea), and some other things we couldn't try because our bellies just wouldn't fit them.
Wandered down to Malaga Cove and Flat Rock Point at the south end of Redondo Beach/north end of Palos Verdes to go for a short hike afterwards. t'was a nice little stroll on the beach, but we forgot to check the tide, and hence couldn't make it to the tidepools at Flat Rock Point. Clearly we, uhhh, don't visit the beach very often.........
Finished the night with a dumpling (errr, dumpring =Þ ) party at Lan Lan's place in Irvine. Or should I say a dumpling-making factory powered by slaves *cough* friends and fueled by the massive amounts of sangria and desserts that were provided?
