Erik's Graduation: Day 3
The rest of the party stayed near Salem to go wine tasting... unfortunately the Won family had prior obligations like work the coming Monday, so we piled back into the car and drove back home. Mt. Shasta was beautiful and absolutely covered in snow, the "Olive Pit" tourist trap was so-so but did have clean bathrooms, and our rental car-- a 2010 Honda Accord with quite possibly the most noisy set of OEM Dunlop SP Sport 7000 tires in existence-- managed to get us the 550 miles back in 8 hours 40 minutes (with another 40 minutes worth of stops). Fuel economy wasn't bad either, I think we recorded 25mpg on the way up and 28 or 29mpg on the way back.
Tack on 200 miles between Eugene and Salem (and all the other driving)... not bad. Eugene also has ridiculously cheap gas prices, 10 to 30 cents a gallon cheaper than anywhere else!
Did a simple dinner at home for Nui-nui's birthday, capped off with lots of pictures of Floppy (Avery) the rabbit and Nui-nui's much-delayed Macbook Pro.
