Revlon Run/Walk
The Revlon Breast Cancer Run/Walk 5k with Alicia, Pearl, Simon, and a ton of others. Then post-run burgers at The Counter with Alicia, Scott, and Sara. Finally, meeting up with SE-R Club of America car geeks at Dave &Buster's and the Kogi truck.
In theory the Revlon Run/Walk was with a lot of others, at least. We never did find UCLA Staff Assembly group, and we didn't properly catch up with Pearl, Simon, Will, and the rest of the Konami dorks til after the race-- we saw them briefly early morning, then the start line was such an incredible zoo (29,000 people!) that they never found us. We took the Boeing shuttle bus in so we did catch those people. *grins*
With a zillion people there, many of them walking, this clearly is not a race you run for time, but it was fun all the same. The Olympic flame atop the LA Coliseum is only lit for the Olympics and the Revlon Run/Walk too, so that was pretty cool. The band at the end inside is kinda cool; this is the biggest "race" I've been in, surpassing even the LA Marathon. Not to mention I got to practice taking photos while running backwards.
Met up with Alicia's brother Scott and his girlfriend Sara afterwards at The Counter for lunch. The churro milkshake and the carne asada burger were the special. The former was so rich it was almost hard to drink, while the latter was among the best carne asada I've had. (I don't know how!) It was good!
Met up with fellow SERCA car geeks afterwards at Dave and Buster's and then the Kogi truck. Boonie was back in town from Thailand, so Carlos, Martin K., Greg V. and I all met up. t'was good to see some of the OG guys again, not to mention it was the first time most of 'em had Kogi!
