Food and food trucks
First off, pigging out at Yamato for lunch with coworkers. Yamato's only an okay place, but given the lack of Japanese food in Westwood, it's one of the only chocies now that Isshin is gone. Food itself was so-so to average, but the killer was the mackerel as part of the lunch set-- it was relatively thin pieces with skin, fin, and it was breaded/deep fried. A fatty fish + breading + deep fried = gross.
The next day, lunch at Yum Yum Bowls (Thai food). I figured I'd give them another chance as they were terrible the first time. They were terrible the second time, too. They were out of some things I wanted, and I ended up with the BBQ pork/BBQ chicken combo. Same very blah rice and the pork and chicken were almost identical in taste and flavor. aka severely lacking in both, and in texture they were close too. Eww.
A stop at The Slice Truck was the next day. That was pretty good, although their hot garlic pizza now is no longer burning hot and hence isn't quite as interesting. Honestly, the way it is now (rather than burning hot bye-bye-taste-buds) is probably better for them, but maybe not to us spicy food maniacs?
Finally, dinner at Wild Thai at Howard Hughes Promenade. It's another so-so Thai place, but at least we had a coupon!
