Mammoth: January 2010 Trip 1: Day 1

Got up stupid early, met up with Albert, Rick, and Mike, ran the inaugural Los Angeles half-marathon --properly known as the LA 13.1-- in the slug-like time of 1:51:03 (I swear we saw a beached whale passing us as we ran), then showered, hopped in Pearl's car, and drove up to Mammoth!

The course for the LA 13.1 wasn't nearly pretty as we were hoping. As an out-and-back race from Venice to Culver City, it could have taken a kind of neat route, but instead we basically ran all the way up and back down Venice Blvd. Decidedly meh. Stopping at the beef jerky place on the way to Mammoth (near Olancha) was actually much prettier, in a Borderlands-desolation-desert sort of way. Still, it wasn't a bad race per se, and it was well run... plus topping the day off by heading up to Mammoth, how could I complain?
