Peru 2009
Adventures with Renee and Jane
We hired a car and headed to Tipon, a major Incan agricultural site that gives our first taste of just how massive the Incan ruins and population must have been. Lunch in Tipon, then off to Pikillacta (a pre-Incan, Huari culture) for more exploration. Met a random girl, Laura from Harvard Medical School, doing rotations in Peru too-- and picked up useful advice on restaurants in Cusco from her. Michael picked up food poisoning somewhere on the way, which made us very thankful we'd hired a car instead of taking the bus... sadly, this meant Michael missed out on some awesome beef heart for dinner, and drinks at a bar called "Km 0" where we picked up two pitchers of Pisco sour for only 70 soles (!).
