UCLA Staff Assembly Casino night at James West Alumni Center.
Social Sciences Computing (SSC) was well represented. Mike arranged to drag Bethany and her husband (Dylan), Albert, Jarett, Caroline, Sam, Carlos, and a few others there... (Ryan? Lucas? I forget who else...)
In the poker tournament, Dylan, Bethany, myself, and I think two ex-SSC employees ended up at the final table, then down to the last five were Dylan, myself, and one ex-SSC employee. Pretty crazy game, weeding down from ~35 players to one chip leader to be the winner in just over an hour. Absolutely freakin' crazy. Dylan ended up winning the whole thing and scoring the 4 season tickets to UCLA Football next season. Awesome!
Not sure if anyone at SSC won anything interesting in the raffle, but it was a pretty good time. Even if we ran out of beer waaaay too early and the snacks didn't last that long (tasty enough, but not exactly great. This is a public university, I wasn't expecting much!). Played a bunch of craps before the tournament-- got hammered early on, then made almost all of it back. Too bad it only got me more raffle tickets (or perhaps good thing!).
Last two pics are Annie's attempt at samoas (the Girl Scout cookie). Didn't quite turn out as expected-- more like a sugar cookie loaded with coconut, sugar, and chocolate. Tasty, but I think the most anyone was able to eat in one sitting was three-- then Bill didn't need to eat rest of the night, he was that full. o_0
