Gyk-Kaku, Spoon House, Kean's Visit
Three different sets of food-related pictures. I'm guessing the fact that I spent the whole weekend trying out new food isn't a surprise?
First up, french toast from Lu Valle Commons at UCLA. One of the few edible things there is breakfast...
Lunch that day was at Gku-kaku off Pico in West LA with cjs from Ars. Deliciously tasty Japanese barbeque, but holy crap, definitely pricey given how little food then give you. Definitely order the spicy tuna salad if you go, it's very tasty and very necessary to ensure you don't leave hungry! $1 draft Kirin at lunch didn't hurt either!
A beautiful clear blue sky further improved what was already a lovely day. It did make it kind of hard to do anything productive at work...
Sunday night over at Spoon House in Gardena. Pearl's talked about this place-- it's the Japanese take on spaghetti. Alicia seemed to enjoy it, at least. My cold seafood pasta was very tasty and huge. Somehow I ate it all!
Finally, Tuesday is out to Bonchon (sp?) in Koreatown with Kean from Malaysia. Complete last-minute meet, where we promptly stuffed ourselves on Korean-style double-fried chicken and caught up with the latest in Kean and Jianhui's exploits from the other side of the world. Not too much to say about the food. The spicy fried chicken was pretty good, the regular miso (?) was even better, but I don't think it held up to what we actually had in Korea. I'm curious to try Kyochon for fried chicken now, since it's only a few blocks away...
