Ruth Chris Steakhouse + Magic Mountain
Weird- to see Pearl three times in less than 2 weeks!
Twice here-- we were at Ruth Chris' Steakhouse for Dine LA Restaurant Week-- appetizer + entree + dessert for $34. Seared ahi tuna, petite filet migon, and dessert. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. So good to have properly done steak, although Ruth Chris' certainly isn't alone at the high-end anymore. The ahi was excellent as well, even if Julie found it too spicy; the creamed spinach was eh...
Then the following Saturday, off to Magic Mountain with a bunch of Pearl's coworkers and Pearl herself. Pearl has pics from inside the park, I've only got pictures from Palms Thai near Hollywood. Sadly the pictures of the singing Thai Elvis didn't come out. =(
Pearl has pictures somewhere, but I haven't seen them yet. We hit Tatsu, which was awesome-- suspended track with the passengers reclined against the track... then did Viper, Revolution, Deja Vu (?), Riddler's Revenge, Colossus, Scream!, and Goliath. Goliath is awesome, of course, but not being able to go on Batman, or most of all, X, really sucked. It just means we have to go back!
X was closed, as was Batman and a few others. (I suspect I have it wrong, and one of the rides I thought we rode was also closed... sigh. Getting old!)
Dinner was at Palms Thai, with Thai Elvis singing. Predictably it was packed on a Saturday night, and even with 30 minutes of slack built into the reservation time, people were still late for dinner! Food was good, but you clearly don't go there for the food, you're there for Elvis. To actually enjoy the food I suspect I would need to go when it's not an utter madhouse.
