China 2008: Day 6: PEK-HKG
aka, the day spent wasted in airports.
Got up early to head to the airport, then had an uneventful flight to Hong Kong.
The warmth (mid-70s and the humidity!) immediately hit, then I collected my bags and waited 45 minutes for Diana's flight to arrive.
Turns out her flight had been cancelled.
While I was bored, sitting in HKIA (HKG for Americans) trying to figure out what was going on and doing some work on the airport-wide wireless, Diana was going through China's chaotic, disorganized hell as she tried to get rebooked on another flight. Utter chaos is probably what described things best.
By the time I had figured out what flight Diana had been rebooked on, it was only 2 hours out, so I just stuck around the airport longer and did more work... then when she arrived, we hopped on an airport shuttle bus to the hotel in Kowloon and found food.
Ahh, food.
Victory Ave, near the Metropark Kowloon, is full of pet stores (!) and food. Pigged out at a very tasty, absolutely packed place before wandering down to Mong Kok to introduce Diana to the local shopping experience. No food pictures-- we were seated at a communal table and already seemed touristy enough. Hah.
