Alicia's Birthday
Lunch at work at WEST, then Alicia's birthday at C&O Trattoria.
Unlike last year's staff lunch-- which was a dirt cheap $75 meal for everyone at Ocean Star in Monterey Park, this year's staff lunch was at the far more upscale WEST off Sunset Blvd. and 405. Smaller group, I think, and a single bottle of wine alone was $125. Ouch. Thankfully UCLA was paying! The food was good-- salmon and bacon sandwich for me, plus gelato-- but for that price, I would expect it to be good!
(my more plebian taste buds would have been happy with dim sum, but I can appreciate variety!)
Alicia's birthday was later that night at C&O Trattoria. Haven't been there in a while, so it was nice to fill up on mounds of past and their addictive garlic rolls. Needless to say, I ended the day very stuffed. T'was fun despite people running late-- they still arrived in plenty of time to help us eat and sing!
