Climbing at Malibu Creek, then partying...
Rock climbing at Planet of the Apes wall at Malibu Creek. Then party at Camille and Francis', then dim sum and dessert the next morning with Frances and her friends. Busy weekend, huh?
Did Grape Ape (5.9) and Christmas Pump (5.10a) at Planet of the Apes wall at Malibu Creek, plus we farted around on Monkey Sang, Monkey Do (5.11c). Matt's much better than the rest of us and made it about halfway up, maybe more, before getting crushed. We had planned to go around the rock pool to hit Mt. Gorgeous or Stumbling Blocks or something, but we showed up at Malibu Creek shortly after 8am in the morning and were trying to traverse around the rock pool at 8:35am. When it was 28F outside. There was frost on the ground. Our fingers felt like they were freezing when they touched the rock.
Not such a good feeling...
Fortunately, Planet of the Apes has some great climbs on it, and despite just "farting around" on the 11c, we all had fun with it. Did a lot of swinging off of that climb, resulting in some *ahem* dramatic shots. Some other climbers were also there, I forget what they were on, but I think it was the Spider Monkey (5.11b) or Shock the Monkey (5.10b/5.11a variations) -- and they made it look easy!
Holiday party at Frances and Camille's later that night. They cleverly had a slave factory running making Christmas ornaments, along with lots of food and drink. Lots of people I'd never met before, including some serious camera attenion wh0res. =P There was a white elephant gift exchange too, but since I was busy climbing that morning, I never did get around to picking up a gift. Oops.
Karaoke was interesting, particularly after a few rounds of Skyy or Patron. All-in-one microphone thing did the job, so while we had lyrics on the screen, we didn't have any cheesy videos. I am unsure if I should be thankful for that fact or not. Combined with varying skill levels of the singers. I made a careful note not to take any video of that part of the night. ; )
Did dim sum with Frances, Patrick, and friends the next morning at Capital Seafood on Garvey and Atlantic in Monterey Park. MMMMMMMM... Pearl was doing dim sum across the street with her coworkers (plus our friend Joycelyn) at Ocean Star, we met up with them later. *grins* Afterwards... we did a bit of walking, then stopped by a Kang Kang food court for dessert. Mmmmm shaved ice with almond jello, lychee, mango...
