Dave and Alan's Birthday
Birthday dinner for the Hacketts at El Cholo on Western. It's actually pretty nice-- not as comfortable nice as the one on Wilshire, but a little more worn, broken-in nice-- not as showy.
It could also be that we were there in the middle of the week, so it wasn't as crowded either.
Dave's law school friends made up most of the attendees, plus a few UCLA friends (all two of us). This tells me many things, not the least of which is I have way too many friends who are in law school or are lawyers. The fact that I understood most of their conversation was frightening. The third and final surprise was that Dave has so many friends. It's good to know not everyone turns into a social hermit in law school. *grins*
Alan and I were also the only two people at the table (of 14 or so) who had jobs. Everyone else was a starving student. Crazy. At least they'll all be making serious money in another 18 months if the theory matches up with reality!
