Justin's Visit, Day 1: roaming LA
Roaming Los Angeles with Justin. Met up with Randy and family for lunch, then roamed Hollywood and Melrose, stopping at Mann's Chinese Theater and walking several blocks of Hollywood/Highland, along with bits of Melrose and of the shoe stores on Fairfax, north of Little Ethiopia. Several places were great, one place Justin had heard about from friends actually yelled at us for taking pictures (no polite warning, no signs posted, not a single bit of courtesy), so we got pissed and left. Strolled through Samy's Camera as well and got spectacularly ignored, too. Harumph.
Went to Hurry CUrry on Sawtelle for dinner after wandering through UCLA for good measure. Traditionally north campus is home to all the nice buildings (as you can see here and here), but the new buildings in the Engineering quad, including CNSI, are also very pretty to shoot. We did a quick run through Ninjya Market after dinner; Justin's familiar with JDM-land and even the little two-block-long micro-sized Japanese strip mall was like heaven for him.
