Pictures from UCLA, plus Jersey Boys
Pictures from around UCLA and Westwood, taken with Sam's Canon EOS 1D Mark III and a part of borrowed prime lenses-- the old 28mm/f1.8 and the beloved "nifty-fifty" 50mm/f1.8-- in this case the Mark I (!).
My will is weakening. *sigh*
Fortunately I need more harddisk space before I can contemplate buying a 40D or a 5D and an assortment of lenses. Ideally the 16-35mm/f2.8L II, 24-70mm/f2.8L, and the 70-200/f2.8L IS, or some combination thereof. (or if I cheap out because I buy a crop body, the EF-S 10-22mm/f3.5-4.5, the EF-S 17-55mm/f2.8 IS, and the 70-200/f2.8L IS)...
Compared to shots of UCLA's campus in similar broad daylight with my Panasonic DMC-FZ5 or previous Fuji Finepix 3800, at web resolutions (832x624 in this case) the differneces are clear but minor; viewed even a little larger-- 1280 width or so, it starts to become very obvious how much better a dSLR is compared to any point and shoot. Despite the excellent Leica lens on the FZ5 and the relative softness of the 28mm/f1.8, the extra detail is hard to miss. I really need to buy a dSLR, soon as I can afford one...
Plus a few shots from Jersey Boys at the Ahmanson, and then from a work lunch tagged on at the very end.
