China/Hong Kong: Hong Kong
We headed back down to Tsim Sha Tsui to do some exploring-- the Peninsula Hotel and the 9 carat (!) diamond on display at the jewelry store inside, the high-end malls near the waterfront, and just wandering in general. Heading into the Hong Kong Space Museum was tempting, but we settled for wandering the streets and shops instead. Probably a much more enjoyable experience anyway. =D Chow Tai Fook jewelery shops are everywhere, it's kind of scary...
Dim sum for lunch-- sooooo good. This is where it's from, how much better can you get? The cheung fun, YUM... and loubac gou (sp?) in a style you just don't get at all in the US. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Several encounters with dan tats during the day, too. Sadly we never did find any really good ones, the two or three bakeries we tried barely scratch the surface of what's available at least.
After lunch we did some serious exploring of Mong Kok's shopping, from electronics to books to clothes (ok, skipped that), to, well, wherever we could wander. McDonalds and Starbucks also made appearances; finding a McDonalds connected to an electronics/appliance store was rather odd to my US-bred expectations. *grins*
Back to the hotel for a swim in the pool, then dinner nearby, and a bit of shopping at a market across the street for dark chocolate Kit Kat bars and Ribena drinks.
