China/Hong Kong: Return to Hong Kong
The KTT from Guangzhou East was a very clean, very modern 160km/h (100mph) train ride back to Hong Kong. They handled customs all within the train station (even if Kristen's emergency passport suprised one of the workers), and you could tell you had left China as soon as you got on the train from the Hong Kong prices on the menu. (aka, ouch!)
We grabbed a late lunch in Mong Kok after a failed attempt to find dim sum, then we headed south to Tsim Sha Tsui, hopped on the commuter ferry to cross the harbor, and then up to The Peak. The goal was to catch it right at sunset, when the view is most pretty. We failed to account for the fact that 20,000 other people had the same idea. It was still pretty cool, just crowded. That, and I didn't realize The Peak is a full-blown 5 story mall (well, pair of malls) on top. It was a gorgeous view, but at the same time it was a zoo of people, albeit more orderly than most.
Compared to China, there were quite a few more expensive cars around, but still surprisingly few high-end racy Japanese cars around; plenty of luxury makes, but I guess you have to go elsewhere for the fleets of Supras, Evos, Skylines, etc...)
Top it all off with a midnight snack of won ton mein, of course. =D
