Pearl's Birthday/Housewarming Party
Pearl's housewarming party. First dinner at El Pollo Inka with coworkers. 7 pictures reveal some tasty food, although the beef tripe was not terribly interesting as it was seasoned mostly with butter, drowning out whatever other spices they used.
Then off to Pearl's housewarming party, chairs, table, and alcohol in hand...
Pearl's place is a lovely little tri-level townhouse. 2 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, hardwood on the first two levels, with a raised dining area. Pretty sweet. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms upstairs in a pretty neat, compact layout. For the party, a TV with a PS2 and Guitar Hero 2/Karaoke Revolution: American Idol occupied the living room, the dining room had a very familiar Ikea table with lots of alcohol on it (the original plan was to use the wet bar, but we had easily six or eight times more alcohol than the tiny wet bar could fit), and then a Wii and an Xbox in the family room that is immediately adjacent to the kitchen.
Pack it in with 28 or so people at its peak, keep the alcohol following, people celebrating Pearl's new place, and lots of fun was had. :-D
Amazingly we weren't too rowdy, at least not rowdy enough for the police to show up. Had we packed it in with the same density as old apartment party, say, 40 or 50 people in the same space, then we might have had some issues. *grins*
I won't even pretend to do a full guest list, but we had Steve, Marie, Thomas, Aaron, Den, James, Julie, Bill, Sophia, Greg, some people from Konami, plus another dozen or more people there. Four cases of beer, but the hard liquor dominated, with a lot of vodka-- a bottle of Grey Goose, more than a bottle of Stolichanya, Absolut, a big bottle of Skyy, plus a 4-year-old bottle of Pearl Vodka... whereas the tequila, rum and SoCo were barely touched. We did make quite a dent in two bottles of Maker's Mark for good measure. Well, Bill made quite a dent by himself in the Makers' Mark. Alicia even brought a bottle of wine, yum. We also got to see roughly 50,000 different facial expressions as alcohol was consumed, including a few much-less-than-tasty mixed drinks poured by some people who probably have no business mixing drinks. *evil grin*
Serious Guitar Hero 2 action was downstairs where all the food was, while upstairs ranged from Karaoke Revolution Party to Wii Sports. Sophia did an excellent last-minute job of breaking into our apartment to grab two more Wii-motes to ensure we could keep Pearl's Wii with a full flock of 4 Wii-motes. Some serious bowling and boxing action went on, and since most of the Wii-motes were ours, Bill and I most certainly joined in a few times. I'm told 4-player tennis in that little room was a lot of fun, but I personally avoided the whole mass-of-flying-elbows when that was going on. As one can see, we had enough fun going on elsehwere, plus we had jello shots that needed to be eaten.
People started trickling out about 1:30am, Pearl went to bed around 3 or 3:30am if memory serves (or was it 4am?), and a few of us kept things going til the sky outside started getting lighter. :-o That's when Thomas, Greg, Julie, and I decided maybe it was time to go to bed.
After crashing on one of Pearl's couches for roughly six very fragmented hours of sleep, we got up and met Alicia for breakfast at IHOP, where enough bacon, eggs, hash browns, and pancakes were consumed to feed a small army. In a very strange reversal of roles, Alicia cleaned her plate at lunch!
