Snow Patrol's show was quite good. Not as polished as I was expecting for a group that's been around for more than 7 years with four albums under their belt; they still do the usual modest walking around on stage with some strobe light arrays that explifiy most bands that have yet to have real inspiration strike. (or maybe they're just too focused on music to figure out a good show) Keep your expectations modest and you'll be pleased.
Once they got the sound board figured out about four songs in, things got much better than the "meh" start. Chasing Cars worked out much better than it did on the album; kind of like Muse, hearing the live version changes some of the elements that felt under-produced and works out for the better. Run was very good, as was Open Your Eyes, which was part of the four song encore.
And after the first few songs, the band woke up and started talking to the audience. Irreverent Irish though they may be, it was pretty amusing, and their claims of having never met anyone who was ACTUALLY from Los Angeles til this show, where they met a whole room full of people from Los Angeles (except Pearl and I, of course!) was pretty funny. The usual one-fan-on-stage-to-help-sing-one-song was slightly more interesting than usual, and it actually brought a slight spark of life to the classically dead Los Angeles crowds who just stand there and do nothing. I felt like Pearl and I should have warning signs next to us saying "arms and bodies and legs flailing, approach at your own risk!" compared to the statues we were next to. =D
Not a bad show. Pretty good, actually. Accept the Irish humor and don't expect too much aside from the excellent addition of live flavoring that befits a good live show!
