Billy and Amy's Wedding
Billy and Amy's wedding.
Congrats, Billy and Amy!!
... the storm of friends from UCLA who are getting married begins...
Drinks the night before the wedding at Dave and Busters' in Milpitas... Thomas, Angie, Cheston, Viet, Dian, Liang, George, and Ely, plus myself. Lots of shooting games and waaaay too many tickets earned with the coin drop and coin-sweeping games.
The next day, the wedding itself at Crystal Springs in San Mateo. Beautiful setting by the 9th hole, the clouds let the sun in just before the ceremony.
I'll spare you the sappy details. Suffice it to say everyone seemed to be happy!
The usual bizarre behaviour I've come to expect with this group of friends continued. Kevin and his girlfriend were also present, plus Steve and April, Farhana, Simon, Maggie, Teresa, Joyce, Anne, and quite a few others! Seeing everyone together in a big group isn't that unusual for us, even 3 or 4 years after graduating, but what made it great was why we were there and that almost everyone was able to make it!
Being the UCLA crowd, we hung out after the ceremony and pictures at the clubhouse, since this was the Peninsula, and none of us really knew where to go. (we did hit Beverages and More right before dinner. heh).
Kim and Brock showed up for the banquet at Koi Palace, which was packed with people--- including quite a few like Kim who didn't make the ceremony. There was a table set with candy and 22 (?) tables worth of people, unfortunately displacing the dance floor. That turned out to be OK though, since Thomas was playing DJ and he didn't pack much dance music.
Food was very good, with the best shark fin soup I've had in a while... I must be getting older too, since the albalone wasn't completely revolting either. :-o ;) For some reason, Amy's brothers kept calling out the two tables UCLA graduates present, trying to make sure Billy and Amy were drinking. Amy's optometry school friends from New York and her high school friends didn't get singled out for this kind of treatment, and I have yet to figure out why. (ok, I think both of the bridesmaids were Amy's HS friends, so they're excused...) We obliged with Grey Goose, Johnny Walker Green Label, and Hennesey XO-- in small amounts, that is. *ahem*
Oh yes, and toasters. Billy specified no boxed gifts and a minimum amount of $100,000 cash, which didn't sit too well with us. *grins*
