Rock climbing at Stoney Point, a quick Ars meet, then to the Rose Bowl for UCLA vs. Rice.
Rock climbing @ Stoney Point
Climbing at Beethoven's Wall, 5.6/5.7 and 5.10b routes. There for just a few hours, it was a highly productive trip. Climbed three easy boulder routes and the two routes up Beethoven's wall, the 10b was an excellent challenge in balance and tiny handholds. Whoever recently set those bolts at the top for the anchors is also a hero-- this was perhaps the easiest setup we've ever had for a climb at Stoney!

UCLA vs. Rice
At the Rose Bowl. Tailgating with Chris, Henry, and a bunch of their friends-- Lisa, Amanda, and Stephanie. Eventually the friends I knew-- Sophia, Bej, Erik, Tara-- plus a whole bunch of other people I didn't know showed up. Korean BBQ on the BBQ, a blue EZ-Up, two tables, six chairs, all kinds of stuff. I've never know anyone who loved tailgating so much. Lisa, Henry's cousin, says this is one of his passions. Chris, Amanda, Stephanie, Henry, Bej, Erik, and I all threw around the football at some point. It was quickly concluded that some of us (i.e. ME) have no idea how to play football. Fortunately those of us never claimed to actually knowing how to play football, either. The game itself was only moderately successful, with lots of pain and frustration as we only beat a team that we should have clobbered. Last year we probably had an inferior team to this year and we utterly hammered Rice . . . this year we're a much more balanced team and shouldn't have eeked by with a mere 10 point victory.
