Roadtrip to NYC: Flying Home
The sane way of traveling across the country: flying.
Picked up 2 hours of sleep, then Joel drove me to JFK. Less than 20 minutes to get there, even in the rain, although he got lost on the way back and ended up in the Bronx. (ouch!) That sounded like an adventure in itself...
Picked up some bagels at JFK while I was waiting, then got onto the airplane and died for 5 hours. JetBlue's individual video monitors are a nice amenity that Southwest lacks, and the "full flight" turned out to be only 80% or so full, which was nice. I didn't really notice, though, since I was sleeping and snacking on the bagels I had brought. Yes, New York bagels do seem to taste better than other bagels, although again, I'm not quite sure why.
6:55am departure, landed at 9:45am back in Burbank... from rain and humidity and what would otherwise be nicely warm into a typical Los Angeles summer, clear, dry and a smidgen warm.
Walked to my car (a very un-Los Angeles thing), then turned the A/C on and enjoyed a nice cool drive out of Burbank. Did I miss the subway already? Sort of, but 101 and 405 were pretty free of traffic at 11am, so I really wasn't complaining.
