Roadtrip to NYC: Manhattan Day 4
The threat of rain, lots of walking on previous days, Joel's landlord owing us a few drinks back in Long Island, and being out til 4am the previous night drinking meant that this was a short day.
We made it over to the UN in time to go to the Post Office and hit one of the last tours of the day. The Security council, the Trusteeship Council, and the Economic and Social Council, the General Assembly, plus various gifts from member nations and exhibits from around the world, including land mines and nuclear weapons. It was interesting, but probably would have been much more enjoyable if the the General Assembly or some other body there was actually in session. Next time we'll just have to go back during the week, rather than weekend. Parts of the building are also a throwback to the 1950s and 1960s, as the building clearly has not been remodeled since it was built.
Afterwards we found pizza nearby, then back to Long Island to go to a block party and have a few beers. We ended up a few towns away from Hempstead for the block party that Joel's landlord was at, and almost ended up horribly lost with his landlord driving us back from the train station. Oops.
