Sierra-at-Tahoe
Quick weekend trip up to Tahoe.
Amazingly, Alan did not drive me insane.
Skiied two days at Sierra-at-Tahoe, a smaller resort on the south side. Reminded me a bit of June Mountain in terms of size, but with shorter runs-- more like Big Bear (or maybe I'm just getting better at skiing faster?). The biggest surprise was how absolutely packed it was, despite it being a regular weekend!
Nothing particularly memorable in terms of runs. Eastbourne had an awesome view of the lake, and some largish snowdrifts at the top that were a little too big for me to tackle easily. Ouch. The beginner runs were packed, with Sugar n' Spice being a niiiiice long run from the beginner that Grace spent hours on. *grins*
We played around in the West Bowl runs as well, but not too much. We lost quite a bit of time due to long lines at rental and some equipment issues with the rental gear.
The one dinner we had was an adventure. Over to Harvey's, where the seafood buffet price scared off half of us. Over to Horizon, where it was cheap but they did not have prime rib. Caesar's was almost as pricey as Harvey's but lacked seafood and had a 45 minute wait-- we grabbed a buzzer anyway. Walked next door to Harrah's where it was seafood but a long wait and as expensive as Harvey's... so we walked back to Caesar's 20 minutes later and got seated right away. =D Unfortunately without seafood the rest of the buffet was merely passable. (Alan loved the pork ribs, tho)
All in all... it was fun! (and tolerable enough...)
