Mammoth
As organized by the Northrop Grumman Snow Sports Club.
Traffic down to El Segundo sucked. We weren't the last to arrive, but it was close. (the more I take 405S at afternoon rush hour, the more I hate it...) Hell to get out of Los Angeles as well, but the alcohol was flowing and we had Subway sandwiches for dinner.
Hit the slopes early the next morning. They got 24" of snow right before we arrived, so the whole resort is now open. It's beautiful.
Kim and Walter are remembering all of the skiing they've forgotten since last season. Barry's clearly rearing to go...
Dinner is at Whiskey Creek. We run into Alex and Hamilton there-- completely random. That's a good thing though, that means they're both going boarding more and hopefully getting better!
Lots of dead cow to go with our alcohol for dinner, then after dinner Hui, Barry, Walter, and I head over to the little shopping area by the gondola to Canyon Lodge. A bar called Hennessy's is probably packed on holidays, but is very low-key this weekend.
Next morning, check out, load everything on the bus, head back to Mammoth resort for breakfast and skiing/boarding til 3pm. Kim's much happier on a snowboard. We end up going up and down Broadway a few zillion times-- going through the area they're activitely making snow makes for nice pictures. We also play "baseball" with some of Barry and Walter's coworkers. Errr, yeah.
The trip back is uneventful, although for some reason dinner is only an hour out of Mammoth as we pick up pizzas in Bishop. I thought we would have waited longer. *shrugs*
