Carley's Birthday
Over at Lindygroove in Pasadena.
The beginner lesson was quite helpful to a complete newbie such as myself, although I unfortunately missed the beginning... doh!
They setup a table with a cake for us since Carley had registered her birthday with them, and people trickled in. Wendy, Carley, Bill, Bej, Nathan, Grace and Kevin, Sophia and Justin, one of Carley's co-workers...
Carley, Bej, Grace, Kevin, and Sophia have been doing this for a long time, so they got to unwind and have fun. Bill, Nathan, Justin, and Wendy looked like they might have been dragged a few times and looked like they were having fun, too!
The birthday dance was done fairly late according to the experts, but that looked like fun. Essentially the birthday people get into the middle of the dance floor, and dance for a very long stretched-out song while people from the edges of the dance floor each get a few seconds to dance with them (until the next person cuts in). The flash-frozen long exposures capture a teeny little bit of it. Some of the people there were ridiculously good, too... the moves done looked impressive. Some of us also got to see the Bej-and-Sophia slide for the first time, too.
T'was fun. well, at least it looked like everyone was having fun. =D
(I was too busy trying to figure out what the hell was happening and how to put together the eight-step and six-step basic moves they'd taught us... for someone like me who has no internal mainteneance for rhythym what-so-ever, that was a lot of work!)
