Big Bear, January 2005 Wow. Big Bear conditions were the best in a decade, easily. Piles of rain in Los Angeles meant fresh snow for more than a week the preceeding month... followed up by three days more of light snow before we arrived at Big Bear this past weekend. Getting to Big Bear was a whole story in itself, though. Suffice it to say a 2.5 hour trip instead took 7 hours. And yes, we found out were Lucerne Valley is, and why CA-18 was closed. Snow Summit was worth it, though. We got in a solid 4 hours of skiing despite our 12:30 arrival. We will be spared further elaboration to prevent any embarassing details from leaking out. (my lack of skill with skis is well known... but some other details... uhh... *cough*...)
