Dinner and stuff

I think I accidentially invited myself to a dinner that Sophia and her friends were planning. Whoopsie. As penance for my interruption, I am posting pictures.

Ok, I would post pictures anyway. ;-)

Dinner was at Shahrezad over in Westwood-- Persian food, very tasty, but always with a long wait. (for a reason!)

dscf0130.jpgIt turned out to be mostly former Regent's Scholar Society (RSS) members, namely everyone except Carley and myself. The majority were from UCLA-- Doug was the only exception. Doug also arrived last, but that was okay, since Shaherzard's traditionally slow seating meant he got there right on time. Once seated we had a very enjoyable meal of stews and kabobs. Donna was adventurous by ordering a glass of pomegranate juice. In the group picture, from left to right, it's: myself, Grace, Doug, Donna, Carley, and Sophia.

Afterwards the threat of going to three different places for dessert did not pan out; the girls had ideas go to go to a nearby French bakery as well as another place in Westwood*, plus mentions of Volcano (for pearl tea), Diddy Reese, and maybe one other place were more than enough to terrorize our stomachs into submission. * = disclaimer. Maybe it was just one place in Westwood, but I think it was the bakery on the corner of Gayley/Kinross and then the tofu house across the street for another dessert... my memory is fuzzy.

We ended up at Volcano Tea House, where we promptly ran into about a half-dozen people who we knew in four separate groups. Barry and Kim showed up a few minutes after we walked in, as did Steve Fung and his friend, plus Donna ran into someone she knew... plus, Barry's friend Mindy was working the register as usual. Crazy!

Things concluded at Grace's apartment, because Volcano was pretty busy and Doug wanted to show off his trip to Africa. Grace's roommate has a big TV, so we made good use of it with Doug's laptop. Very cool. However, I will leave it to Doug to tell his story of Africa... he tells it very well!
