Wedding of Melissa and Ed
The wedding reception of Melissa Morgan to Ed Shapiro, June 7 2003 at the Barefoot Restaurant.
My family drove down for this event, since we are very close family friends to Melissa's mother, Grace.
Met lots of new people (even though the reception was fairly small, under a hundred), learned lots of new names, most of which I have already forgotten, and in lieu of proper socializing at first, I took a lot of pictures.
The entire affair was surprisingly informal. No assigned seating, no five course meal, only a few short speeches, no formal introduction of the parents of the bride and groom, etc. etc. As seems to be the case in smaller, less-elaborate weddings, friends of the bride and groom seemed to play a much larger role than in the more traditional weddings.
It was really confusing and strange at first, but as the night progressed and people got to known each other better, things became much more pleasant and fun. The lack of formal structure really disrupted my sense of comfort, much to my surprise... oh yeah, sharing a dance floor with one's parents is rather odd as well!
Best wishes to Melissa and Ed Shapiro, and congratulations to the parents-- Jerry and Grace, and Ed's parents. (I feel useless... I can't remember their names! It's only been 2 hours!! someone e-mail me with their names!)
