Life = work?

One of my friends who's still in school says this:

i don't have time to think. being busy is great. work, class, bartend, sleep. life is beautiful.

I wonder how long she can maintain the charade. big grin I've been putting in 10.5 and 11 hour days at work all this week training lackeys and minions from our remote offices, and this sucks. I had less than two days' advance notice I was going to be conducting training for this full week, plus my two normal job functions still need to be done. Fortunately-- be thankful for small favors-- the direction on my job priorities as of late has not come from my boss, but from the VP of Operations, which means his word is law, and the rest of my duties may suffer lower priorities because the VP says so.

aka, low pay, long hours, increasing responsibility... the piles and piles of "thanks!" and "good job!" and "great work" I've accumulated over the last year add up to almost squat as far as actual rewards go.

Fortunately, I'm here by choice. I want my geography job and I want a decent one... if I want to stay in the tech sector, I could leave almost at my will. The perils of being picky. *grins*

March Madness

Looks like everyone is in tournament pools for NCAA March Madness. It surprises me to find out that Ginny is a first-timer, since she's such a big sports fan. Either way, it looks like she's doing good and kickin' *ss, compared to clueless newbies like me, who's getting his butt handed to him buy a few friends.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know, I know. I personally didn't think UCLA would make it past the 2nd round without a major miracle, but I had to be sentimental. ;-) Ditto for Pennsylvania and Georgia Tech. We'll see this time around...

Updates are heeeeere...

Contrary to rumor, the three four five *ahem* now six gallery updates are finally here.

Snow! President's Day weekend at Mammoth. A bit too much snow, actually.
One day trip to Mt. Baldy to keep practicing skiing. =)
Dim sum with Viet, Billy, Cheston, Anne, Ray, and Farhana. Plus Nick's eDead install on his car.
Visiting Hollywood with Joel and his friends.
Nathan's birthday pictures.
Out with Barry all day...

Fun times. =) Hey, when you work at a slave camp, playing hard on weekends is what keeps you sane! (barely...)

Longest "in progress" ever?

Three galleries are uploaded. They're just waiting for me to finish the indexes. Two more galleries need to be uploaded and indexes finished. I suspect an additional gallery is waiting, too.

Instead of working on my website, nifty things like installing a JWT ECU in Nick's car and partying over at Sangria Lounge have been occupying my free time. Typing away on the computer often means looking at people such as Jen's xanga (sticker collecting? you call that geeky? that's not that bad!) At work, I'm actually doing work these days. Crazy, huh?

Maybe tomorrow, I can get some of the smaller galleries up.

In progress

Three galleries-- but not yet the long-awaited Mammoth pictures. Those are up next.

A random comment: there's too much money in Los Angeles. Flaunted money, that is. Barry saw a Porsche Carrera GT about two weeks ago. Two days ago, I saw one. This is a $600,000 automobile that's barely on sale, and in very limited production. And we've seen two already? This is in addition to the 3 Mercedes CLS500's and two Ferrari F360's I've seen in the last month. I can't even count the number of SL500/S500/E500/CL500's I've seen. Even the vaunted SL55/CL55/S55/E55 is not as rare as their owners would like to believe...

Call it "supporting the economy", I guess. Better them than me. =)
