Utah: August 2020
An early start at Bryce Canyon's ampitheater for its best-known hikes: descent via Wall Street, clockwise around Peek-A-Boo Canyon, up to Two Bridges, and then out via Queens Seat and Queens Garden. The Windows section and Queens Seat were the marked landmarks, but the whole area is spectacular. The sun had the good grace to come out as well, lending its golden hues the second half of the hike before the clouds and thunder came.
The bison burger at the park inn was quite tasty, then it was off into the rain to explore the rest of the park. Layers upon layers of clouds and haze at Swamp Canyon Overlook, punctuated by thunder and the occasional lightning strike. Efforts to get further, to Rainbow Point, were briefly disrupted by a vicious hailstorm-- but ended up being well worth the trouble.
Managed to find a turnout near one of the previously fire-blackened areas for a different perspective, and yes, even found a food truck for ice cream inside the park.
