Japanese beef rice bowls are now on Sawtelle!! Still soft opening tho, so menu is a bit limited.
Potato salad, regular salad, and whatnot were kind of like a typical midrange Japanese restaurant (about the same level as Curry House, Hurry Curry, etc.)-- although the bacon atop the potato salad was a nice touch, and the portion sizes for the sides are generous. The basic sliced beef bowl appears to be the way to go; the cut steak don (one step up) is good but doesn't quite seem worth the upgrade.
Stopped by Sprinkles as well, for the hot cheetos cupcake. They dilute the heat down to just an essence with cream cheese frosting, so while it's good, it's a bit more ordinary than I was hoping.
